About the OSSTF/FEESO AQ Program
The OSSTF/FEESO Additional Qualifications (AQ) program has been designed with a clear purpose: to support educators in ways that feel relevant, practical, and grounded in the realities of secondary school teaching. Guided by the idea Created by Secondary Teachers for Secondary Teachers, the program brings together the experience and insight of educators who understand the complexity of today’s grade 9–12 classrooms.
Courses are developed and facilitated by expert teachers, with learning that reflects what is happening in secondary schools right now and connects directly to classroom and school-based practice.
Get Started
At the heart of the program is a focus on supporting inclusive, accessible, and responsive teaching. Engaging today’s learners means thinking carefully about how classrooms are designed, how curriculum is delivered, and how diverse student needs are supported. AQ courses are built through an accessibility and inclusivity lens, helping educators strengthen both their understanding and their practice. The learning is meant to be used, with a strong emphasis on strategies, approaches, and ideas that can be applied in meaningful ways to support student success.
The program also recognizes that professional learning must fit within the realities of a busy secondary teaching schedule. Reporting periods, exams, and extracurricular commitments can make it challenging to engage fully in additional learning. OSSTF/FEESO has prioritized the development of AQ courses that are flexible and responsive to the demands of the secondary school academic calendar. This approach helps eliminate common barriers and supports educators in engaging in professional learning that is manageable, relevant, and meaningful.
